Chassis Focus – Bruno Coelho

Chassis: Xray XB2D ’19
Motor: Hobbywing 8.5T
ESC: Hobbywing Xr10 Pro
Batteries: Sunpadow 4500mAh
Radio/Servo: Sanwa/Savox
Tires: Schumacher (handout)
Body: Xray Dirt

Remarks – Xray top driver Bruno Coelho is attending EOS Round 5 here in Andernach running the Dirt version of the Slovakian XB2 buggy. This example was specifically prepared for the wet conditions encountered in the early stages of the race, and features a plastic rear shock tower to increase traction. Bruno is also using the higher gearbox that brings the motor further towards the rear. In addition, he chose an 8.5T motor and a milder speedo setup to better suit the traction conditions. The chassis is covered in a soon to be released chassis tape, very useful on astro as it prevents bits of synthetic grass from sticking to the hot chassis.

Chassis Focus – Lee Martin

Chassis: Yokomo YZ2-CAL2
Motor: Scorpion 5.5T
ESC: Scorpion Vanguard S3-140
Batteries: Yokomo 3900 mAh
Radio/Servo: Sanwa/Xpert
Tires: Schumacher (handout)
Body: JConcepts

Remarks – Still sporting the same pre-production parts – that are part of the development for the updated version of the Japanese buggy – as for the Daun event, former EOS champion Lee Martin’s YZ2-CAL2 only benefited from a few minor setup tweaks to be in contention for the win here at the Hudy Racing Arena. Still adopting a steel under-LiPo weight, with the new shock tower allowing for adjusting the rear wing height Lee decided to use the lower position, saying this change improved corner speed greatly.

Chassis Focus – Lee Martin

Chassis: Yokomo YZ2-CAL2
Motor: Scorpion 5.5T
ESC: Scorpion Vanguard S3-140
Batteries: Yokomo 3900 mAh
Radio/Servo: Sanwa/Xpert
Tires: Schumacher (handout)

Remarks – Former EOS Champion Lee Martin ended his winning hiatus in the 2WD class here in Daun, behind the wheel of a YZ2-CAL2 that sports a bunch of pre-production parts that are part of the development for the upcoming, updated version of the Japanese buggy. The chassis features a new design for increased stiffness and is meant to be used with the new separate side battery mounts for optimal flex. Both the shock towers are lower and the rear shocks length has been also reduced, while the gearbox has been updated in order to obtain easier access to the differential. Using a steel under-LiPo weight plate, Lee also opted for a LMR rear wing to be paired with the JConcepts bodyshell.

Chassis Focus – Neil Cragg

Chassis: Team Associated B64
Motor: Reedy 5.5T
ESC: Reedy 510R
Batteries: Reedy Zappers 5800mAh
Radio/Servo: KO/Reedy
Tires: Schumacher (handout)
Body: Pro-Line Elite

Remarks – Long time Team Associated ambassador Neil Cragg is racing a B64 with a number of options and interesting solutions here at the Ptak Warsaw Expo. Having equipped his buggy with lower front and rear shock towers, the British driver is also using the B6 rear arms and hubs in an inverted left and right position. The rear shock tower is mounted in front of the gearbox instead of the standard rear position, and the front gearbox is raised 2mm. Neil is also using the rear HRC arms mount flipped upside down so as to obtain a lower roll centre.

Chassis Focus – Michal Orlowski

Chassis: Schumacher CAT L1
Motor: LRP 5.0T
ESC: LRP FlowX
Batteries: LRP 3500mAh
Radio/Servo: Sanwa
Tires: Schumacher (handout)
Body: Aerox Lightweight

Remarks – Reigning EOS Champion Michal Orlowski is running a CAT L1 equipped with a new top deck, conceived in order to obtain more twist flex but keeping the chassis longitudinally flat. He is also using the S2 shock towers that allow for a bigger droop – improving the landings – and which also lower the Kashima shock bodies, bringing the overall centre of gravity closer to the ground.
