Neumann checks out in first 4WD A-Main

Team Durango’s Joern Neumann put in a dominant performance in the first 4WD Buggy A-Main at the TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series to win by a massive 8-seconds but the race was far from dull with Martin Bayer and Hupo Honigl producing plenty of entertainment as they battled over second. Starting from pole, defending champion Neumann was never threatened getting an early break on the opening lap when the No.2 starting Xray of Renaud Savoya rolled on the wall section and fell to the back of the pack.

With Neumann, who has never yet been beaten in the EOS in 4WD Buggy, pulling clear of the field the focus of attention was on the Xray of Bayer and Durango of Honigl as the pair ran nose to tail. Try as best he could to put a pass or force the Czech driver into an error, Honigl couldn’t get his moves to stick showing great sportsmanship by waiting when he made contact with Bayer. As they started their final lap, Honigl looked like he might have found a way through getting his DEX410 along side the XB4 but they touched on the run up to the double causing Honigl to case the jump ending his challenge. Trying to stay ahead of the fast closing David Ronnefalk, the Kyosho driver coming through from 8th on the grid, Honigl tried to over jump the young Swede at the crossover but couldn’t pull off the landing costing him a further spot as Peter Pinisch came through to take 4th.
