Cavalieri wins Leg 2 of 4WD Buggy

Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri has won the second leg of the 4WD Buggy A-Main from a hard charging Joern Neumann and leg 1 winner Dustin Evans.  Cavalieri, who put in a performance in the opening final he would prefer to forget, hit the front when Evans got out of shape and held off a late challenge from Neumann to finish 2/10th ahead of the Durango.  Having dominated the opening leg Evans said he was forced to push much harder this time and running the same set of tyres found they weren’t up to the job.  Cavalieri who had fresh rubber on his B44.1 said he ran a conservative race wanting to put the many mistakes made in Leg 1 behind him and that paid off.

Once again Neumann was the only one to be able to mix it with the Americans as he reduced a 2 second gap to sniffing distance of the lead car in the latter half of the race setting another fastest lap in the process.  The German was pleased with his performance against Cavalieri who he said was the ‘World’s best driver’.  In contention for the overall win along with the two professional US drivers who started ahead of him on the grid, the former European Champion said unless they make mistakes it would be near impossible to find a way through.

Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk had a good run from 7th on the grid to finish fourth ahead of fellow Swede Oscar Levin.  After his stunning drive to third in the first encounter Viktor Wilck pulled up just before the half way distance after a series of crashes.
